A passion for the outdoors and active adventures in nature has been a fundamental source of pure joy and sense of being alive and connected to each other and to the wonderful planet we inhabit. Nature is our happy place, and our method of immersing ourselves in it (as much as possible) has been a progressive (and ongoing) journey with overlanding.
Brief History
In 2015 our paths crossed (although we were not unknown to each other) whilst we were both at our on cross-roads individually. Our love story was a very surprising one (most of all to us!) and the best part is our union has ushered in a whole new take on life, love and everything else, with our focus being deeply rooted in authentic living with a grounding deep in nature and exploration. This has all developed and grown in between being full time employed and filling very corporate roles at Multi-National Companies.
As we are in the latter years of our forties, we realise that life is indeed fleeting and we are more focussed than ever on living it to the fullest, which takes some conscious planning and direction when still juggling a full time job. But living a passion makes sacrifice easy – well easier than being numbed to death by the demands and monotony of simply existing.
So, we CHOOSE adventure and exploration at every available moment and have done so since getting our first overlander in 2016. A 2005 Landrover Defender with a Bundutech Tent – we named her Gracy and enthusiastically started an FB Page called “The Life of Gracy” with the intention of sharing our experiences…we did okay for a time, but posting was not regular or particularly focussed, and little did we know that “The Life of Gracy” had people wondering if we had lost a child or loved one and this name was in their memory, but it was actually a convergence of “Grant & Tracy”… a bit of a blind spot on our behalf! (See pics of our beloved Gracy below).
Fast forward to 2024 where we revisited this idea of getting serious about sharing our experiences, our beautiful country and info on every place we visit in the hope of encouraging others to get out and explore more.
With expert guidance and wisdom from the pro’s “Active Overlanding” was born with a very clear vision and mission to execute our passion of showcasing life in nature and the beautiful and diverse places we have available to us right here in KZN first and then South Africa as a whole. Ultimately it is simple we want to help others while we live our motto to:
“LIVE FREE, EXPLORE BOLDLY!”
